Point and Shoot 2: Taking a Walk
Point and Shoot 1: Shooting with X100
Hipstamatic 4th
Downtown Tampa
Yes, I know. It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. I started working full time as an attorney and my job has been INSANE. Long hours and little time to pick up the camera and play. It makes me sad to see that beautiful body just laying there, begging to be touched… ok… that’s a little much.
I asked the lady if she wanted to head to downtown Tampa tonight to take photos, walk the dogs and grab a beer. Here are my favorites from the evening.
Portraits of a Great American
IPhoneography #21 — Hipstamatic Gasparilla
I know. It’s been a while and I’m not making promises that I’m going to post constantly, because I honestly couldn’t keep them. However, we went to Gasparilla this year and I want to share the photos I took.
IPhoneography #20 — A Hipstamatic Thanksgiving
This is a set of photos that I took when we were at Wendy’s mom’s house for Thanksgiving. I just wanted to share them with everyone before Christmas rolled around. I took all of these using Hipstamatic. I like the app because it has neat effects. My favorite lens is the Loftus. It’s a nice filter. It’s basically a centered image and then softened edges for kind of give a depth of field effect even on your iPhone won’t necessarily give that effect.
When Worlds Collide pt. 3
This is the first in a series of portraits I did for the firm. I really didn’t like Jake’s original portrait and, since he just joined them as an associate, I felt he needed something strong and dynamic. So, I took him to the office conference room and had him stand in front of a window. We borrowed one of the staff, our friend Kristen for a minute and had her use a reflector to fill in the shadows a bit.
The result:
Composition: I had Jake stand towards the back of the window and turn his body in towards it, to allow the  light to go across him.  I then turned his face towards the camera and then brought the reflector near his face, just outside of the frame. The background is merely a wall in the office.
The shadows and look are pretty strong. The only issue is that Jake has kind of a mysterious look to him. That’s due to the lighting and the turned head. You can see the reflector as the catch-light in his eye.
Retouch: I retouched the tie with some clarity. Touched up a few blemishes. I also had to soften a shadow along the collar.
Here’s the setup:
IPhoneograpy #19 — Theme & Variation
This is a theme and variation on a photo taken during my recent photowalk. I used a combination of mirrorgram and Instagram to make this happen.
iPhoneography #18 — Mobile Photowalk
A week and a half ago, I organized 6 friends, 5 dogs to make 4 stops for beer and it was a great success. We started at the Dali Museum and walked to a number of places around downtown St. Pete. I loved it. I’m not going to prattle on much more about it. Here are the results. Many of these are edited on my phone with a few minor touchup using Snapseed on my desktop.
